Description

I just started learning how to draw. This is the first piece that I have been proud enough about to show anyone. I think I did pretty well, since this is only my second day, but I am well aware that I need improvement. I would greatly appreciate feedback, especially on areas i need to work on, and areas i did well on. In fact, that is the main reason i am posting this piece.

I scanned this from a sketch book and made some light changes using photoshop, so that the lines and shading (if you can even call it that) were more visible.

thanks for all those who helped me!

Hands seem to be one of the hardest things to master. You could draw hands for years and never feel it's adequate enough. Hands are wobbly things that defy you at times.

For a first attempt, you are not doing too badly. You lack a bit of definition and dimensionality, but that is to be expected. I'd work on how to smooth out some of the jagged features, and make the thumb look more natural to the hand. I'd also make sure to draw the other side of the hand, as that offers a more unified view then looking at the palm does. While we like to think of the palm as the side that we see all the time, it's good to remember anatomically, the palm is the Bottom of the hand. We'd be walking on that if we weren't so strange a critter. :)

Keep working at it! Hands are challenging (I think, at least), but it's as good a place to start as any!
